From the beginning, Maestro Paolo Vranjes has been working toward a vision of exquisitely crafted and richly evocative olfactory experiences.
The story of Dr. Vranjes is intertwined with Maestro Paolo Vranjes’ life. A boy exploring nature. A grandchild surrounded by his grandfather’s books. A chemist with impeccable formulation. A Florentine and traveler. His personal moments and universally shared memories are crafted into fragrances that can be experienced by all.
In 1983, Maestro Paolo Vranjes opens his workshop and laboratory, the Antica Officina del Farmacista in Florence. Over the years, the space becomes the birthplace of Dr. Vranjes’ world-renowned fragrances, refined through the Maestro’s creative experimentation and intuitive, hands-on process.
Dr. Vranjes Philosophy of designing olfactory experiences is embodied here by one of our most famous products, the Rosso Nobile. Its origin is inspired by Maestro Paolo’s dear friend, a filmmaker passionate about winemaking and convinced that no one could recreate the scent of red wine. With Rosso Nobile, Maestro Paolo not only changes Francis’ mind, he also signals to the world of perfumery that he is setting a new bar for the creation of ambient fragrances.
The cradle of beauty and the heart of modern fragrance, Florence has always been a vital part of our story. To further commemorate our bond to the city, we decided to change our logo and name, becoming Dr. Vranjes Firenze.
Dr. Paolo Vranjes and his wife Anna Maria receive support from BlueGem Capital Partners. This enables the development of new strategies for expansion, continuing the company’s growth, and strengthening the business model.
Celebrating the 39th Anniversary of Dr. Vranjes Firenze is both a hallmark of our achievements and a launchpad for our future endeavors. With great excitement, we look forward to the many projects and collaborations on the horizon.
OUR STORY
Dr. Paolo Vranjes has always been fascinated by the power of scent. Growing up amid the fabrics and perfumes of his grandfather’s trade, he often recalls, “I was captivated by this world made of precious transparent bottles, containing rare and exciting aromas. I really wanted to know all their secrets.”
Following his innate curiosity, Maestro Paolo pursued studies in chemistry, pharmacy, and cosmetology. He founded the Antica Officina del Farmacista in 1983, where he continues to design meaningful olfactory experiences, from home fragrances to personal care products, by exploring the very questions he pondered as a boy: “Where do scents come from? What makes them so special? Why does mixing them together produce something new and magical every time?”
Fueled by Maestro Paolo’s passionate experimentation, our company is dedicated to perfecting the art of immersive perfumery using the precision of science and the essence of memory. Each of our blends is masterfully formulated, resulting in a suite of original fragrances that evoke luxury, comfort, and above all, the emotional connection that creates memories.

As our name shows, who we are is inextricable from where we are from. Known for a longstanding tradition of craftsmanship and perfume making, the city of Florence is both muse and incubator for our creative innovation. Our iconic bottle is, fittingly, inspired by Brunelleschi’s Dome, a poetic homage to the beloved Duomo that makes its home in the historic center of our city. With every bottle, and every gift of inspiration, we celebrate the ways that the Florentine legacy is our inheritance while merging it with new ideas and a contemporary sensibility.
